I didn’t keep an accurate count in 2011, but I know we received a little less than 200 print submissions for the Ignatz and maybe about 20 for the online category (I’m not sure if that count in gmail is accurate, though. It’s possible I deleted a few when I was done with them).
Last year — 2012 — we received about 270 print submissions and around 50 online submissions.
For this year’s award, we received nearly 450 print submissions and more than 100 online submissions.
Which is to say: In two years, we have more than doubled the total number of submissions to Small Press Expo’s Ignatz Awards.
Or more to the point: All of you are making a lot of comics and that’s awesome and I love you for it. Even when all your comics are taking up too much space in my living room. (Just remember to multiple all the print numbers by 6 … and welcome to my life!)
